The session held – yesterday, Tuesday – in the Swedish Parliament witnessed objections from Arab and Swedish activists to the speech delivered by the ruling party spokesman, Stefan Olsson, which was dedicated to discussing the war crimes committed by Israel against the Palestinian people.
An activist in the “Together for Palestine” group, Hussein Kamal El-Din, said in exclusive statements to Al Jazeera Net that the parliament session witnessed many interventions that discussed the humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip, and “the crimes committed by Israel against our Palestinian people.”
Hussein Kamal al-Din is a Palestinian refugee from the Yarmouk camp in Syria, and has lived in Sweden for 11 years. He appeared in video clips that spread on social media sites objecting to the speech given by the spokesman for the ruling party in Sweden, before security personnel took him out of the parliament hall with activists. Others.
Reason for objection
Regarding the reason for his objection in the Swedish Parliament, the Palestinian activist said that Stefan Olsson touched on the war in Gaza in his speech, and stressed that “we should not be led by what we see in the media and news channels in order to put pressure on Israel, or even call what it is doing “Genocide, because this must be done based on fixed rules and verifiable standards, and we await the decisions of international courts.”
The activist in the “Together for Palestine” group added that this “is an injustice to our martyrs and children who are slaughtered and killed by the Israeli occupation,” and a double standard that the government adheres to when considering its position on the Russian-Ukrainian war.
Swedish street parking
Regarding the position of the Swedish street on the Palestinian issue, the Palestinian refugee in Sweden said, “The positions of the Swedish people are completely inconsistent with the official position of the government, and they were the reason for changing the positions of the Prime Minister, who had supported the genocide carried out by Israel, and then he became content with saying that Israel has the right to defend “About herself.”
Kamal El-Din pointed out that the Swedish people do not have a culture of demonstration, and despite that, thousands of Swedes participate with us in our demonstrations that we organize in the capital, Stockholm, in solidarity with the Palestinian cause against the massacres being committed in Gaza.
The Swedish News Agency reported that Conservative Party MP Stefan Olsson said last Tuesday, before the parliament session, that “it is not possible to comment on whether Israel committed war crimes in Gaza, and we must wait for the opinion of experts such as prosecutors in the International Criminal Court.”
It is noteworthy that the “Together for Palestine” group presents to the Swedish public twice a week what is happening regarding the aggression against Gaza, especially since the official television channels in Sweden do not show events about what is happening in Palestine, according to what Hussein Kamal El-Din says.
