White House spokeswoman Jane Psaki said that US President Joe Biden continues to support gay marriage, after the Vatican announced that priests cannot bless this marriage.
Psaki said in a press conference, “Biden did not have a personal response to the Vatican statement, but he did not change his old view in support of same-sex marriages.”
“Biden still believes and supports same-sex marriages, as you know, and he’s been doing that for a long time,” she added.

The Congregation for the Faith of the Vatican, announced earlier in the day, that representatives of sexual minorities who hold single-sex unions cannot receive an ecclesiastical blessing.
In a statement, the Synod, which is the body responsible for evangelizing and defending the Catholic doctrine, indicated that there are projects and proposals presented by some ecclesiastical circles about offering a blessing to gay couples. He added, “The answer to a question about whether the church has the powers to grant them the blessing is no.”
The statement pointed out that unions of people of the same sex, even if they are stable, cannot be called “marriage” as it is “a union between a man and a woman from whom a new life is born.”
