This week, the Sultanate of Oman is exposed to air depressions coming from India, with the possibility of heavy rains in some areas.
A report issued by the “National Center for Early Warning” expected that the governorates of “South Al Sharqiah” and “Al Wusta” and parts of the governorates of “Muscat” and “North Al Sharqiah” will be affected by rains of varying intensity.
The report added that rain may extend to the day after tomorrow, Tuesday and next Wednesday, with the flow of rain clouds coming from northern India, warning of raging waves on the coasts overlooking the Arabian Sea.
Younis bin Hussein Al-Shezawi, a meteorologist at the Civil Aviation Authority, said that the sea is expected to be rough on the coasts overlooking the Arabian Sea, with a height ranging between 3 to 5 meters, and average waves on the rest of the coasts.

Thunder rain
Al-Shezawi added that there is a continuous activity of local formations on the eastern and western Hajar mountain ranges and the adjacent areas, and may extend to the deserts during this week, and that it is very likely that it will lead to thunderstorms with hailstones, and the flow of valleys and reefs as a result of these rains.
He stated that it is likely that these rains will be accompanied by active downward winds of more than 30 knots (60 kilometers per hour), which will lead to the flying of unstable objects and the rise of dust, which will cause a low level of horizontal visibility.
For its part, the Omani Civil Aviation Authority called for the need to take precautions and not to risk crossing valleys, and stressed the need to be careful during sea descent this week.
