The Chicago Bulls won’t be able to count on Alex Caruso until at least early next week, according to the team’s own manager, Billy Donovan. The head coach has reported that the player is dealing with a strained right hamstring, for which he will be re-evaluated in a week.
The injury is not serious but the team wants to face the recovery process in the safest and most cautious way possible in order to avoid any type of complication.
With DeMar DeRozan, Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic in charge of leading the charge in attack, Caruso has found his niche within the team as a defensive pillar and secondary creator. His 4.1 assists and 2.2 steals per game – NBA leader – endorse it.
With Caruso out of the game, Lonzo Ball and Ayo Dosunmu emerge as the main candidates to repeat their minutes. At the same time, DeMar DeRozan, Coby White and Javonte Green will also leave after being included in the health and safety protocols of the NBA.
Luckily, the Bulls have some cushion to deal with this setback by ranking at the top of the Eastern Conference with a 17-8 record.
