Traditional New Year’s Foods
Starting on December 26th and ending on the 31st, you can order several items from Nook Shopping. Visit the Nook Inc. Vendor, or use the app on your phone if you have it, then go to Special Goods, then go to the Seasonal Tab.
Here you’ll find several traditional New Year’s celebratory dishes:
If it’s New Year’s Eve, then Resident Services will be closed and you’ll have to use the Nook Shopping app on your phone in order to buy these items. If you don’t have the app yet, you’ll have to time travel to an earlier day to order them.
Light Stick
The Light Stick is another equippable item that’s only available on New Year’s Eve itself. To get it, simply talk to Isabelle outside Resident Services to recieve it for free!
To use the Light Stick, equip it just like a tool, then hold A to wave it!
Tom Nook‘s Stall: Silk Hats and Poppers
The second set of items you can only get on New Year’s Eve itself. For the entire day, Tom Nook will be manning a cart outside Resident Services, where he’ll sell two types of items: New Year’s Silk Hats, and Poppers.
The Silk Hats are the primary exclusive item and are available on Dec 31st only. They come in four colours: Orange, Yellow, Blue and Aqua (also known as Cyan), and cost 500 Bells each. You can buy as many as you like and in any colour.
If you talk to your villagers on Dec 31st before 11:50pm or so, if you’re wearing one of these hats, they’ll realise they aren’t aren put one on!
The second item are Party Poppers. These cost 300 Bells for a pack of five (a much better deal than at Nook’s Cranny), and are the same ones given out on Fireworks Day. Equip one, then press A to fire them off! You can also hold an entire stack, letting you fire them off in quick succession.
Unlike the Silk Hats, Party Poppers are available after New Year’s: you can buy them from cupboard in Nook’s Cranny at any time of the year.
New Year’s Day: Mom’s Art
On the first day after New Year’s Eve (aka New Year’s Day), check your mailbox for a present sent by your in-game mom. It’s a cross-stitch piece of landscape art!
