América Móvil renews spectrum for mobile Internet for another 15 years in Brazil

Mobile America managed to renew various spectrum concessions in the 1.9 and 2.1 GHz bands to offer mobile Internet services nationwide in Brazil for the next 15 years.

The company, through its subsidiary course Brazill, obtained the renewal of the frequencies in the minute prior to the expiration of the concessions, due to the fact that the regulator Anatel definitively approved Claro’s request on April 28, two days before Claro’s concessions expired.

The National Telecommunications Agency of Brazil (Anatel) validated that Claro can exploit batches between 10 and 15 Megahertz of bandwidth each, depending on the location to which cellular coverage is provided and within the 1.9 GHz and 2.1 GHz bands.

Anatel indicated that Claro’s new licenses in that spectrum will be valid for until April 30, 2038.

Claro will pay annually a payment equal to 2% of your income received in the previous year and 1% in the last year of validity of the now new concession.

Brazil reported an overall total business of 8,480 million dollars in all of 2022 and 2,222 million dollars in the first quarter of 2023 for its parent company América Móvil.

Claro from América Móvil reported a cellular business of 82.84 million mobile users and 1,248 million dollars in the first quarter of 2023.
