The Russian Embassy in Washington has received letters from American citizens, apologizing for President Joe Biden’s statements about the Russian leadership.
The Russian ambassador to Washington, Anatoly Antonov, said on the embassy’s Facebook page, that the embassy had received messages from US citizens apologizing to Russia for Biden’s statements.
Antonov expressed his gratitude to the citizens of the United States who sent letters to the embassy to support the development of friendly relations between Russia and the United States.
He said, “Many have expressed their disagreement and apology for the reckless statements made recently by Washington against Russia.”
Antonov noted his admiration for the position of Americans “who realize that dialogue between countries must be based on mutual respect and equality,” adding that “what American citizens do testifies to the fact that the possibility of normalizing relations between the Russian and American peoples still exists.”
The head of the diplomatic mission expressed his hope that the American administration would listen to the electorate and “stop its policy that pushes for further collapse of relations, which in turn complains of excessive clash.”
