Helge Braun, director of the office of German Chancellor Angela Merkel, ruled today, Monday, that measures to combat the Corona virus pandemic are widespread in the country early next year.
Germany begins a general lockdown on Wednesday to cope with the high rates of spread of the virus. Brown told NTV that he was very optimistic that the tougher measures would help reduce the number of new infections.
But he said, “We will witness some difficult days” during the winter, as long as there are not enough vaccine doses for everyone.
He added that “a comprehensive relaxation (of measures) is very unlikely.”
