The American Wall Street Journal said that Beijing refused to provide preliminary and personal information about early cases of corona to the investigation team led by the World Health Organization in China on the origin of the virus.
The newspaper added today, Friday, citing members of the global health investigation team, that the information that Beijing refused to provide could help determine how and when the Corona virus began to spread.
The Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said during a press conference today, Friday, that all assumptions in the organization’s investigation about the origin of Covid-19 are still open.
Tedros added: “Some questions were raised about whether some assumptions were excluded … But after I spoke with some of the team members, I would like to emphasize that all assumptions are still on the table and require further analysis and study.”
The team said that its basic assumptions are that the virus originated from bats, although there are several possible scenarios for how it could spread to humans, possibly infecting another group of animals.
An investigation team led by the World Health Organization in China announced this week that it is no longer continuing to discuss the issue of whether the virus leaked from a Chinese biological laboratory, which the team considered highly unlikely.
