Anthony Edwards out INDEFINITELY with ankle injury… as Timberwolves star remains in walking boot

The Timberwolves do not know when Anthony Edwards will return from an injured right ankle.

Edwards was carried to the locker room Friday night in the first quarter vs. the Bulls after appearing to land awkwardly on his ankle.

The injury occurred while he jumped to pass the ball to a teammate, with the third-year player falling to the ground afterwards and letting out a loud scream.

Now, there’s been something of an update from Chris Finch, with the Minnesota coach telling the team’s play-by-play announcer Alan Horton that there is no timetable for Edwards’ return.

Horton also relayed that Edwards remained in a walking boot from the injury, which the team described as a right ankle sprain on Saturday’s injury report.

Edwards has been instrumental for Minnesota this season, as he leads the team with 24.7 points per game, while also chipping in 5.9 rebounds and 4.4 assists.

The 2020 No. 1 overall pick has been especially vital with Karl-Anthony Towns sidelined since November 28 with a calf strain.

With Minnesota on the bubble of the Western Conference playoffs, they’ll be hoping for Edwards’ absence to be extremely short.

Ahead of Saturday night’s matchup vs. the Raptors – which Edwards was ruled out for for – the Timberwolves sat in eighth place in the West, just two games back from the fifth-place Clippers but only 1.5 games ahead of the Pelicans.

With Minnesota facing a double-digit deficit at the time of publishing, however, they could soon be in worse position.
