Barcelona, May 30 (.).- The president of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, has demanded “immediate” explanations from the Minister of Transport, Raquel Sánchez, on Monday, given the “unacceptable figures” of investments made by the State in Catalonia.
According to a report by the General Intervention of the State Administration, a body that depends on the Ministry of Finance, the State executed last year in Catalonia 35.77% of the investment foreseen in the budget (739.8 million out of a total of 2,068 million expected), while the Community of Madrid achieved an execution of 183.9% (952 million more than budgeted).
Although the starting point assumed that Catalonia should receive 2,068 million last year and Madrid a total of 1,134 million, the real investment executed by the State in Madrid ended up being almost three times higher in absolute terms than Catalonia, since the former received 2,086 million, compared to 739.8 for the Catalan community.
“Given these unacceptable figures, it is necessary for the Minister of Transport, Raquel Sánchez, to give immediate explanations to the citizens of Catalonia”, Aragonès pointed out through Twitter (NYSE:), in a message in which he recalled that “the 86% of non-compliance corresponds to Renfe and Adif”.
