Architectural works in Chiapas and Yucatán are among the nominees for the 2023 Noldi Schreck Award

Two public infrastructure projects are finalists for the Noldi Schreck Prize 2023; This is the Center for Community Development and Coffee Park in Tapachula, Chiapas; and the Pope Park in Merida, Yucatan.

These works were built by the Ministry of Agrarian, Territorial and Urban Development (sedatu) through the Urban Improvement Program (PMU) in colonies with greater lag.

In the category ‘Public Spaces, Landscape Architecture’, the Center for Community Development and Coffee Park in TapachulaChiapas.

Both works were developed in coordination with the Urban Acupuncture Laboratory and built with an investment of almost 48 million pesos, where art, culture, gastronomy and biodiversity of the state are promoted.

“With these nominations, the sedatu It already has 121 mentions and recognitions of national and international architecture and urbanism awards for projects carried out since 2019 in different cities of the country,” the Secretariat reported.

The two projects nominated in the ‘Institutional Architecture’ category are the Community Development Center and Coffee Park in Tapachula, Chiapas; and the Pope Park built in Merida, Yucatan.

The latter was carried out in coordination with Augusto Quijano Arquitectos SCP; with an investment of 58 million pesos to promote cultural, sports and recreational activities among the population.

This 2023 the tenth edition of the Noldi Schreck Award is held, a contest organized by Glocal Design Magazine that recognizes the best of architecture and interior design in Mexico.

The winners will be announced in the coming days through the website and social networks of the Mexican magazine.

It is worth mentioning that, in 2022, the Community Development Center in Chiapas received the ArchDaily International Award; in this municipality the sedatu It has carried out eight urban improvement projects, four of which have been internationally recognized.
