Buenos Aires, Apr 27 (EFE) .- Argentina placed this Wednesday in the domestic market Treasury bills and bonds in Argentine currency for a total effective value of 371,987 million pesos (about 3,106 million dollars), official sources reported.

As specified by the Argentine Ministry of Economy in a statement, in this Wednesday’s operation, Treasury Liquidity bills were placed with maturity on May 23 and an annual nominal rate of 37.50% for 13,868 million pesos (about 115, 8 million dollars).

Likewise, Treasury bills with maturity in July and a nominal annual rate of 47.56% were placed for 44,284 million pesos (370 million dollars) and others with maturity in mid-August and a yield of 48.22% per year. for 8,476 million pesos (70.7 million dollars).

Treasury bills with maturity at the end of August and a rate of 48.80% were also tendered, for 28,795 million pesos (240.4 million dollars), and others with maturity in September and a rate of 50.75%, for 53,627 million pesos (447.8 million dollars).

On the other hand, 64,293 million pesos (537 million dollars) were placed in Treasury bonds maturing in April 2024 and a yield linked to the price of the US dollar, and 15,306 million pesos (127.8 million dollars) in bonds with yield tied to inflation and maturing in November 2026.

In addition, 143,337 million pesos (1,197 million dollars) were awarded from a basket made up of two series of Treasury bonds adjusted for inflation (Boncer), maturing in May 2023 and July 2024.

This Wednesday’s was the last of the two tenders scheduled by the Ministry of Economy for April, in continuity with the strategy of resorting to the domestic market launched in 2020 and ratified in the extended facilities program sealed with the International Monetary Fund in Last March.

The objective of these auctions is to obtain financing to face the successive maturities of Treasury debt and, in addition, capture the liquidity of Argentine pesos and thus decompress the demand for purchase of dollars by investors for hedging purposes.
