Australian cricketers Usman Khawaja and David Warner confronted members of the Marylebone Cricket Club in Lord’s Long Room today following the controversial stumping of England’s Jonny Bairstow.
English cricket fans were left fuming when Alex Carey controversially stumped Bairstow on Day Five of the second Ashes Test.
Australia received vociferous criticism on the field after Alex Carey controversially stumped Bairstow on Day Five of the second Ashes Test.
England supporters launched chants of ‘same old Aussies, always cheating’ and booed the team in a display that shockingly continued into the Long Room.
As the players headed off for lunch, the Aussies were met with boos from MCC members as the players walked down the hallway.
Khawaja could be seen arguing with a member of the club before being pulled away by a teammate and staff member. Warner was also confronted by spectators.
The Long Room interaction, which is unheard of in the sport, has gained traction online with even Piers Morgan slamming the team for showing such ‘little regard for ‘spirit of the game’.’

Tempers flared between the teams as Aussie skipper Pat Cummins proceeded with the appeal
England supporters on social media were similarly angry and shared their thoughts on the incident.
England fast bowler Jofra Archer led the reaction as he simply said: ‘Wow.’
Meanwhile, Piers Morgan added: ‘You cannot be serious??!! Australia, that is pathetic. How can you possibly want to win an Ashes Test match like that?’
Mail Sport’s Paul Newman also said: ‘That’s very very poor from Australia.’
Former cricketer and Sky Sports presenter Ian Ward said: ‘I have never seen anything like this at the home of cricket.
‘The crowd were right into Australia when they were on the field, that continued as the players when through there long room.’
Ben Stokes smashed his way to an angry century at Lord’s after Bairstow was controversially dismissed amid febrile scenes on the final day of the second Ashes Test.
Several cricket fans outlined their anger and disbelief at the dismissal on social media
Beginning the day on 114-4 and requiring 371 to win, Ben Duckett and Stokes started well as England’s captain passed 50.
Duckett was eventually dismissed for a well-made 83 as Carey took a sensational one-handed catch down the legside.
However, just as Bairstow and Stokes were developing a promising partnership, England’s keeper was dismissed in bizarre fashion.
After ducking a bouncer from Cameron Green, he wandered out of his crease, believing the ball was dead.
However, Carey threw the ball back at the stumps and hit them, with Bairstow out of his ground, meaning the Aussies picked up an extremely cheap wicket as tempers flared.
Stokes went on a six-hitting rampage as he set out for apparent retribution in the aftermath of Carey’s highly divisive stumping of Bairstow, hammering his way to a jaw-dropping hundred.

Bairstow couldn’t quite believe what had gone on and was clearly not happy as he went off
By the time the lunch interval intervened, England needed another 128 runs on 243 for six, with Stokes looking imperious on 108 not out.
The home of cricket, renowned as one of the most polite sporting arenas in the world, erupted in a chorus of boos and chants of “same old Aussies, always cheating” after Bairstow was given out in bizarre circumstances at a pivotal point in the game.
England were 193 for five chasing 371 when Bairstow ducked under a bouncer from Cameron Green, tapped the crease and began to walk down to prod the pitch.
Australia wicketkeeper Carey sent an under-arm throw in after catching the ball, leaping for joy as he hit the stumps. There was confusion in the middle, Bairstow seemingly believing the ball was dead at the end of the over but Australia were happy to proceed with a deeply divisive appeal.
The umpires sent the decision upstairs for review by TV umpire Marais Erasmus, who had no option but to confirm Bairstow’s dismissal.
The Yorkshireman reluctantly stomped off to the pavilion as a crowd of almost 32,000 – taking advantage of reduced £25 tickets – poured out their anger on the touring team.

Stuart Broad was the next man in and exchanged intense words with the Australian players
The Lord’s crowd was infuriated by the unsporting actions of the visitors as they vociferously booed them and in particular Carey and skipper Pat Cummins – who decided to proceed with the appeal.
Broad threw himself into the row, seemingly picked up on stump microphone telling Carey he would be remembered forever for his actions, and later making an ostentatious show of grounding his bat behind the line at the end of an over.
But Stokes was the man at the centre of the storm. He was on 62 not out at the time, playing with notable maturity, but suddenly began a frenzied display of furious hitting with 46 runs off his next 21 deliveries.
He pulled Green for three muscular boundaries in his next over, then sent a rocket straight back at Pat Cummins, who could not hang on – attracting a few more words from Broad as the Australia captain lay on the ground.
Stokes then blazed 24 off the hapless Green’s next visit, with three consecutive sixes heaved into the on-side.
The session ended in unbearable tension, with television cameras apparently picking up Australian players exchanging words with members in the Long Room.
The Long Room spectacle comes just days after Just Stop Oil protesters as invaded two Ashes matches.
Activists from the eco-campaign group invaded the pitch at Lord’s on Wednesday and threw orange powder across the grass – and Bairstow was seen picking up one of the protesters and carrying them off the pitch.
Ahead of the second over of the morning session at Lord’s, two Just Stop Oil protesters raced onto the pitch and attempted to throw orange paint across the main playing area.

Bairstow showed officers how to deal with the saboteurs as he took matters into his own hands, to the delight of fans at the ground. Meanwhile England captain Ben Stokes stopped the other protester as he guarded the pitch closely, assisted by other players.
It was the first day of the Ashes 2nd Test match between England and Australia at Lord’s Cricket Ground.
The protesters are believed to have had tickets for the event, and ran onto the pitch from seats in the crowd.
Three people were arrested at the scene on suspicion of aggravated trespass and public nuisance, the Metropolitan Police said.
Steward Finlay Andrews, who has become an internet sensation for tackling the protester, has turned the incident into a job-seeking opportunity on LinkedIn.
In what was described as the ‘best LinkedIn post ever’, Mr Andrews said: ‘I’m pretty sure this wasn’t on the job description when I signed up for a couple of hospitality shifts at The Ashes this summer whilst on the hunt for a different kind of “runner” role.
‘If your team could use someone who isn’t afraid to dive in, I’d absolutely love to connect.’
