Australian authorities have evacuated about 18,000 people from the southeastern state of New South Wales, due to floods and continued rains.
State Prime Minister Gladys Prejiklian said an estimated 18,000 people had left their homes in New South Wales due to the flooding caused by torrential rains.
Jerejiklian added that the torrential rains will continue and she urged locals to be vigilant.
38 areas have been declared “disaster areas”, and the authorities intend to provide financial aid estimated at $ 800 per adult and $ 300 per child.
Earlier, local media reported that the state of New South Wales had opened evacuation centers due to the continuous heavy rains since last Friday.
