Madrid, Mar 27 (.).- It falls 3.8% this Monday and is trading at around $27,000 after learning of the complaint by the US authorities about Binance, the largest cryptocurrency platform in the sector, and its founder, Changpeng Zhao, for violating financial and regulatory rules in the country.
At 8:00 p.m., the best-known and most traded cryptocurrency in the market fell 3.8% and changed to $27,005 after starting the session slightly above $28,000.
The cryptocurrency went through the worst moment of the day shortly before the European stock markets closed, when it marked a provisional intraday low of $26,570.
Bitcoin almost lost the $20,000 level at the beginning of the month after the liquidation of the bank specialized in cryptocurrencies Silvergate Bank, but it returned to capture the interest of investors after the bankruptcy of financial institutions such as Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) in the United States United States and exceeded the level of 28,000 dollars with an accumulated revaluation of almost 30%.
However, the complaint from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) returns doubts to the sector with the memory of the bankruptcy of the FTX platform -which became one of the largest in the industry- end of 2022 and that led the cryptocurrency to trade at minimums of $15,000.
The lawsuit filed this Monday before a federal court in Chicago claims that, since July 2019, Binance has offered derivatives operations to US users despite the fact that in theory it could not do so and that it did not require any type of identification for those clients, also in violation of the rules.
In addition, the CFTC assures that although Binance intended to restrict access to clients in the United States (USA), at the same time it recommended methods to evade controls and be able to access those operations.
The US agency believes that the founder and CEO was responsible for all strategic decisions, including a “secret plot” to help clients considered important to avoid these controls.
Since the beginning of the year, when bitcoin was listed at $16,500, the revaluation of the digital currency stands at 63%, although still far from its all-time highs of November 2021, when it touched $70,000.
