The recently approved rule by the NBA that makes it easier for teams to sign replacement players due to COVID-19 will allow us to temporarily enjoy some old rockers of the league.
If first it was the Boston Celtics who closed the incorporation of Joe Johnson for the next ten days, now it is the Dallas Mavericks who have hired Brandon Knight after exercising the hardship provision, as reported by the media ESPN.
Knight, who has not played in the NBA since the 2019-20 season, presents an experience of 446 games of regular season spread over Detroit, Milwaukee, Phoenix, Houston and Cleveland. This past summer he shared his desire for another shot in the league after playing in the Summer Leagues. This, although in a way daring, has ended up arriving three weeks after his 30th birthday.
Until then he had played eleven games with the Sioux Falls Skyforce of the Development League, in which he averaged 21.3 points and 5.5 assists.
In parallel, the Mavericks have also closed a ten-day contract with Carlik Jones. The Texans currently have six players in the NBA’s health and safety protocols, so new additions are expected.
