CCE Puebla warns loss of international contracts due to highway robberies

Puebla, Pue. The Business Coordinating Council (CCE) reported that some companies are losing contracts, especially international ones, due to highway robberies on the section of the highway Mexico-Pueblaevents that occurred during this year.

Ignacio Alarcon Rodriguez Pachecopresident of the agency, described such a situation as worrying due to the theft of units with merchandise on the toll road, which is supposed to be monitored by the National Guard.

He indicated that despite having the units and shipments insured, customers, especially from the United States, do not understand the situation of a robbery and want their orders on time.

He commented that companies cannot have a similar stock of products to replace what the customer lost in a robbery, a situation that is seen as a breach of contract.

“Customers are informed immediately when theft occurs; the local or national ones are understanding and give a month to replenish merchandise, but in the case of the United States, the buyers only give a week and with these conditions it cannot be fulfilled, leading to losing contracts, ”he deepened.

He indicated that the National Guard should reinforce surveillance on this highway and its connection with Veracruzsince the request has been constant and there is even a security table with that authority, which should bear fruit by exposing cases of highway robberies.

Alarcón Rodríguez said that clothing, textile and food companies are the most affected, because they have merchandise that is easy to place on the black market in both Puebla and neighboring states.

He urged the Federation to have a better security strategy, “because they may look like a few cases, but the affected businessman implies monetary losses due to canceled contracts and that cannot be resumed due to non-compliance.”
