A new study conducted by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention revealedCDC“, that vaccination protects people from infection with the Corona virus much better than previous infections, according to what was published by the website “CNN“American.
The researchers stressed that their findings should help settle the controversy over whether people with infection should bother with vaccination, adding that vaccination should be obtained even in the case of previous infection with the virus.
The scientists explained that people who were not vaccinated and who ended up in the hospital were five times more likely to contract corona compared to people who were vaccinated during the past three to six months.
The researchers wrote in the weekly report of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (MMWR): “All eligible persons should be vaccinated against Corona as soon as possible, including unvaccinated persons previously infected with the Corona virus.”
“We now have additional evidence that reaffirms the importance of corona vaccines, even if you have a previous infection,” Dr. Rochelle Wallinsky, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said in a statement.
She explained, “This study adds more to the body of evidence that shows that vaccines protect against severe complications of corona, and the best way to stop the coronavirus, including the emergence of variants, is widespread vaccination against corona and disease prevention measures such as wearing masks, washing hands frequently, social distancing and staying in home when sick.
Researchers across the United States collected data on 7,000 people treated in 187 hospitals in nine states for coronavirus-like illnesses between January and September and all tested for coronavirus.
They found that those who had not been vaccinated were 5.49 times more likely to contract the coronavirus than those who had been vaccinated within the past three to six months — even if they had a recent infection.
