New York Governor Andrew Cuomo called for the necessity of banning flights with the United Kingdom after the emergence of a new strain of the fast-spreading Corona virus in London and southern Britain.
Cuomo criticized President Donald Trump’s administration for not implementing such a lockdown, saying it had failed to learn from the virus’s first blow in the spring.
He stated that the US had a number of flights coming in from the UK every day and “we did nothing at all”.
“How many times in life should we make the same mistake before we learn? The federal government is totally negligent and they do nothing about this problem,” he added.
He stressed that “the time has come for the federal government to take quick measures, because all it takes for the new strain of the virus to arrive is for someone to board a plane that lands at John F. Kennedy airport.”
