Demi Lovato is in search of new management after parting ways with manager Scooter Braun last month, as per sources from Billboard.
Lovato had signed with Braun and his SB Projects company in 2019. Prior to that, she was managed by Phil McIntyre of PhilyMack.
According to a source close to the situation, Lovato felt it was time to explore a new direction, although she is grateful for her time with SB Projects. She is currently in discussions for new management.
Representatives for Lovato and Braun declined to comment.
Since joining Braun, Lovato has released two albums: 2021’s Dancing with the Devil… the Art of Starting Over, which reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, and last year’s pop-punk release Holy Fvck, which peaked at No. 7 on the same chart. Lovato has achieved chart success throughout her career, with 36 songs on the Billboard Hot 100, including four top 10 hits. All eight of her studio albums have debuted within the top 10 of the Billboard 200, with 2009’s Here We Go Again entering at No. 1.
On September 18, Lovato will release Demi Lovato Revamped, featuring reworked rock versions of her biggest hits such as “Heart Attack,” “Sorry Not Sorry” featuring Slash, and “Cool For the Summer,” among others.
Upon signing with SB Projects, Lovato shared on Instagram: “Dreams came true today for me… Couldn’t be happier, inspired and excited to begin this next chapter with you Scooter!!! Thank you for believing in me and for being a part of this new journey.” (All of Lovato’s pre-2022 posts have been deleted).
Braun also shared on his Instagram at the time: “She is a special person and a special talent. I’m… we… are honored. Welcome to the family Demi.”
SB Project’s artist roster currently includes long-time clients Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande, among others. Following reports that Bieber was considering leaving SB, representatives for both parties denied the “rumors” to Billboard.
J Balvin, who also joined Braun in 2019, left in May and is now managed by Roc Nation.
In 2021, Braun sold SB Projects’ parent company, Ithaca Holdings, to South Korean entertainment conglomerate HYBE. SB Projects continues to operate under HYBE, with Braun serving as HYBE America’s CEO. Earlier this year, Braun played a role in HYBE’s acquisition of leading hip-hop label Quality Control.
