The Bulls come into this season with a mix of feelings that makes it difficult to know exactly what to expect from them. Some, excited by the weighty names that have arrived, already place them as one of the covered in the Eastern Conference, while others, on the other hand, have little trust in the new incorporations and are skeptical about the potential of the squad. In this context, one of those new players has wanted to take weight off expectations, pointing out that it will be they on the court who will win or not the right to dream.
“I have been in teams in which it was said that we would be at the bottom of the table and we ended up winning 50 games,” said DeMar DeRozan in a statement to the Chicago Sun Times. I’ve already heard everything, and you can’t let that weigh down. It cannot be the narrative that marks your objectives. You have to go out on the court, set the tone and accept any challenge. With the talent that we have in this group, we are all looking forward to seeing what the challenge is ahead of us.
The former Raptors will undoubtedly want to show that he can give more than is expected of him after several seasons in San Antonio in which he has been somewhat forgotten. Despite their good numbers, the loss of competitiveness of Texans at the sports level has moved the guard away from the media spotlight, something that he can recover when he reaches one of the teams that generate the most expectation for the new course. There is a lot of desire to see what potential these Bulls really have, and without a doubt DeRozan’s level will be an important scale in order to define if we are facing a truly exciting project or not.
