Dialogues resume in Mexico between the Maduro government and the Venezuelan opposition

The Venezuelan government and the opposition of that country will resume talks in Mexico, announced the Norwegian Embassy in the latter country.

“We announce that the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the Unitary Platform of Venezuela have decided to resume the dialogue and negotiation process in Mexico on November 26, facilitated by Norway. There the parties will sign a partial agreement on social matters, ”he announced.

At the beginning of the dialogue process in 2021, the Venezuelan government and the opposition signed a memorandum of understanding at the National Museum of Anthropology of Mexico, with an agenda that includes negotiation on “political rights for all”, electoral guarantees and a schedule for observable choices.

However, they did not clarify what the final results of the first talks were or specify whether they will meet again in Mexico, until this Thursday when a new space for exchange was announced. The main demand of the opposition in Venezuela is that there be a call for an extraordinary presidential election, with international observation.

The initial agreement of the Museum of Anthropology also covers the lifting of sanctions, the renunciation of violence, reparation for victims, protection of the national economy and social protection measures for the Venezuelan people, as well as monitoring and verification guarantees.

Until now, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico has not ruled on this new process of dialogue in our country for a possible solution to the political crisis in Venezuela.
