Some on the left, some want to see Jenny Chapman, once a leading light in the centrist Progress group, removed, and want the departure of Starmer’s chief of staff, Morgan McSweeney. Interestingly, though, a shadow minister not on the left agrees that Starmer needs a chief of staff who can “really hold things together- a more respected political figure”.
