Former Egyptian Minister of Family and Population Moshera Khattab considered that the Egyptian partnership agreement with the European Union, which entered into force in 2004, needs to be reviewed and reconsidered.
She added in a statement to Egyptian media: “The agreement was signed in 2001 in a political context and different circumstances, and now needs to be reviewed and reconsidered, based on new developments, including Egypt’s completion of the economic reform process.”
She pointed out that the Egyptian-European Association Agreement is important for both parties, as the volume of trade amounted to about 29 billion euros.
Earlier, the dmc channel presented a special report on the partnership agreement, and stated that the agreement provided for a gradual reduction of customs on European exports to Egypt by 10%.
She added that Egypt postponed the application of rates twice in 2011 and 2017, pointing out that the agreement grants Egyptian industrial exports to Europe complete exemption from customs since 2004.
