Former US President George W. Bush condemned the riots in the Capitol building in Washington, DC, saying that what happened “is a disgusting scene and heartbreak.”
Bush said in a statement: “I am appalled by the reckless behavior of some political leaders since the elections.”
Commenting on the storming of the Capitol, he added, “It is a disgusting sight and a heartbreaker … This is the way in which the disagreement is over the election results in the banana republics, not in our democratic republic.”
He considered that the “violent attack” on the Capitol was carried out by “people whose emotions were fueled by lies and false hopes.”
“The insurgency can seriously damage our nation and our reputation,” he added.
