In a recurring scene since the start of the Israeli war on Gaza strip The bodies of martyrs of the Israeli occupation army raids on the Gaza Strip are arriving, and they are unidentified due to the severe mutilation they sustained or the martyrdom of all family members without anyone remaining to recognize them.
Yesterday, Wednesday, 15 unidentified martyrs were buried in a mass grave in the northern Gaza Strip, 48 hours after no one recognized them.
One of those in charge of the mortuaries told Al Jazeera that many of the bodies come with unknown features and are not identified, so they remain in storage for a period of time, as it is possible to identify some of them later from a distinctive mark of the martyr or from some of the remains of his clothing.
But he added that most of these cases, up to 90%, are not identified and remain unknown. Anyone who has clear features is photographed and his picture is kept to identify him in the future. However, if there is no clear sign, the martyr’s body is given a symbol and his belongings are kept in the safe deposit boxes.
In turn, a representative of the Ministry of Health said that the unidentified bodies of martyrs are being dealt with in conjunction with the relevant ministries, primarily the Ministries of Endowments and Justice, where they are finally buried in a mass grave.
