The National Institute of Migration (NMI) and AT&T formed the initiative “calling home”to guarantee migrants their right to keep in touch with their families during their transit through Mexican territory, especially for people in vulnerable conditions.
The initiative allows us to date with 32 telephone lines with international coverage in different states of the Mexican Republic, so that migrants can make unlimited calls to any part of the world.
Between March 2021 and September 2022, there have been registered 19,505 communications of these people somewhere in the world.
“The INM and AT&T are committed to quality care that guarantees the rights of girls, boys, women, older adults, or those with disabilities, the LGBTTTIQA+ community, and victims of crime who are in a context of migration in Mexico,” the two entities said.
