INM and US authorities agree to coordinate actions to protect Venezuelan migrants

The Migration’s national institute (INM) of the Ministry of the Interior and the United States Customs and Border Protection Office (CBP) agreed to maintain permanent communication and coordination to follow up on the recently announced process of internment of persons of Venezuelan nationality to territory American.

In recent days, Washington and Mexico determined that 24,000 Venezuelans will be able to enter the United States through a formal petition and by air.

According to the new migration agreement, Mexico will receive for humanitarian reasons Venezuelans who cross illegally from its territory.

“In order to avoid risky mobility and lose the opportunity of a secure entry, for the Mexican immigration authority it is important that people from Venezuela know the new procedure established by the United States,” the INM said in a press release.

He added that as a result of the joint work between authorities of both countries on migration matters, the US government announced the process and requirements that Venezuelans who want to enter their country must meet, including those who request advance authorization electronically.

Likewise, he mentioned that it is necessary for them to have a contact (family member, friend or other) who is in that country legally and guarantees them financial support or whatever is required to be able to enter; have your complete vaccination schedule; and pass an assessment regarding your biometric and security data.

“It is clarified that if at any time the person requesting entry to the United States has already been expelled from that country or entered Mexican territory irregularly, among other aspects, the applicant will be determined as ineligible,” indicated the institute of migration.
