Today, Monday, the Supreme Judicial Council in Iraq announced that a man bargained with his wife by posting her “private” pictures on “Facebook” unless she was paid five million dinars (approximately $ 3,800).
The Judicial Council newspaper stated in a report, that “Hanan was subjected to electronic blackmail and a threat to publish pictures and videos of her on social networking sites (Facebook) unless she paid five million Iraqi dinars in exchange for scanning them and not publishing them on those sites.”
According to the journalist, Hanan recounted her story before the Qadisiyah criminal court judge: “I never expected that my legal and legal husband would carry out these despicable acts, as I was subjected to electronic blackmail and the threat to publish videos and pictures of me that I had previously photographed in my bedroom during marriage.”
And she continued, “The electronic blackmailer threatened me to post those pictures on social media if I did not pay him five million dinars. I got married two months ago and had disputes between us, which forced me to leave the marital home and return to my family, but after days my husband began to bargain with me and blackmail me with the pictures and videos on his personal device.” He asks me for the amount in return for scanning it and not publishing it. “
She indicated that she “called one of her husband’s relatives and asked him to intervene in order to end the matter, so the mediator intervened and negotiated with the husband and we reached an agreement stipulating that the amount would be reduced to three million dinars, and she agreed to that, provided that it was in the form of two payments, the first during delivery and the second after scanning the pictures myself.” .
The victim stated, “The agreement also stipulated that the mediator handed over 600 thousand dinars as a first payment and went to my husband, who was waiting for him near my house, according to the filming of the home cameras, which showed me that he received the amount from the mediator.”
She concluded her testimony: “After I tried to open the mobile phone, it became clear that it was not working and there were no pictures that he was threatening me with, so I filed a complaint against him before the investigation court because he continued to blackmail me.”
