The Palestinian News Agency “Wafa” quoted the director of the Office of the Wall and Settlement Resistance Authority in Bethlehem, Hassan Brijiya, as saying that Israel “has approved settlement decisions that represent the seizure of lands in Basin 8 from the Shifa site, and Wadi Al Hindi in the town of Al Khader in the south, and Basin No. 1 from the Umm al-Tala plot in the village of Artas, and Basin 4 from the site of Wa’r Abu Muhr and al-Aqqan, and Block 5 from the al-Murooj site in the village of Tamrah, to the east.
“The issuance of such settlement plans confirms the fact that the Israeli government is removing obstacles facing settlers, in order to facilitate the seizure of citizens’ lands,” he added.
In a related context, on Sunday, the Israeli forces swept large areas of Khallet Hassan lands wooded with olives and grapes west of Salfit, which has an area of 4,000 dunums, and has been considered since 1983 a hotspot where it has witnessed frantic settlement expansion attempts.
The Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission said that the goal of what is happening in Khallet Hassan is to establish a settlement outpost as a prelude to establishing a large settlement city that separates the governorates of Salfit and Qalqilya, and controls thousands of dunams of fertile agricultural land for citizens in five villages and towns, which are: Bidya and Qarawat Bani Hassan. And Sanneria, and Kufr a third, and the monastery of Estia.
