This is the moment an Israeli pathologist became emotional as he described the horrifying details of the victims of a recent Hamas attack. The pathologist is seen in front of a screen displaying the remains of a man who was killed during the October 7 massacres in southern Israel. Dr. Chen Kugel, head of Israel’s National Centre of Forensic Medicine, explains that the man was burned alive inside his home while hiding in a shelter, thinking it would keep him safe from the attack. However, the terrorists set fire to his home, resulting in his death. Reports have described how Hamas fighters set fire to houses where civilians were taking shelter, either to force them out or burn them alive. Dr. Kugel, visibly shaken, states that in his 31 years as a forensic pathologist, he has never seen people burned while trying to hug each other in an attempt to save themselves. The video of Dr. Kugel’s presentation was shared on Israel’s official X (Twitter) account. Military forensic teams have also found evidence of torture, rape, and other atrocities when examining the remains of the victims. Around 1,300 bodies were brought to a military base in central Israel for forensic checks. These victims were killed by Hamas terrorists who stormed into Israel from the Gaza Strip and carried out attacks on communities along the border. The video of Dr. Kugel comes with a content warning, informing viewers that it contains disturbing content. The doctor points out that the burned body on the screen belonged to an adult who was burned alive while hiding in a shelter. He explains that because the victim’s trachea contains soot, it is evident that he was still alive when the house was set on fire. Dr. Kugel concludes by highlighting that this is just one example of the many atrocities that occurred during the attack in Israel. The identification process is still underway, with 90% of military dead already identified and teams halfway through identifying civilians. There have been reports of dismembered bodies, beheadings, and cases of rape found during the examination of the victims. The military personnel overseeing the identification process have not presented any forensic evidence to support these claims. Hamas, the controlling force in the Gaza Strip, has denied these reports and accusations. The attack by Hamas gunmen on October 7 resulted in the deaths of around 1,400 people and caused profound shock in Israel. In response, Israel has launched airstrikes and artillery attacks on the Gaza Strip, resulting in the deaths of over 2,200 Palestinians and the destruction of numerous buildings. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has compared Hamas to the Islamic State due to their acts of violence.
