Pierre Webo has exclusively told Sportsmail that the player’s decision to walk off the pitch after he was racially abused by a match official was a watershed moment in football.
Istanbul Basaksehir and Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League tie this week had to be suspended and concluded 24 hours later following the powerful stand from both sets of players, which Webo believes could be a pivotal moment in football’s ongoing fight against racism.

Webo said: ‘There will be one [football] before and another after this on December 8.
‘This thing happened at a high level. This means that everything [level] down, if they hear something, it can make players stop because on December 8 in the Champions League, some guys did that.
‘That moment give a very big importance to players because football without players is not football.
‘I feel like “yes, finally players are united.” They are serious. They are going altogether.
‘I was proud of that thing. Not only because of me, but generally.’
