We are 23 days into the month of January and the security outlook looks downright complicated. Just yesterday, in the town of Las Badajas, Veracruz, five people were murdered, including two minors. Very close to the place, at the height of the naval air zone of the Navy Secretariat and the Heriberto Jara Corona airport, on the federal highway that goes from Xalapa to Veracruz, another man was murdered inside a taxi, leaving the driver injured. In just the 22 days of the month of January, there have been violent events -more than 4 homicides per day, at least once, in approximately 17 states- highlighting a recurrence in Guanajuato, Guerrero, State of Mexico, Zacatecas, Nuevo León, Michoacán, Baja California and Veracruz, in accordance with the daily security report prepared by the interdisciplinary group of the federal government. Thus, in this period there have been approximately 1,641 intentional homicides and only this weekend, 221 homicides.

And it is that so far in the six-year term of the current government, unfortunately no year can be measured below 30,000 murders. In this sense, situations of violence continue to mark a constant, where the attacks are mostly presented with firearms, and where violence against women is maintained daily and does not stop.
