Japan’s “Fuji TV” channel reported on Monday that Japan is considering declaring a state of emergency in the capital, Tokyo, and 3 neighboring prefectures this week, with the increase in cases of Coronavirus.
Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga will hold a press conference marking the start of 2021 at 11 am on Monday.
The governors of Tokyo and three neighboring prefectures called for a stronger response to the significant rise in Corona virus infections, and they applied to the central government to declare an emergency in their regions.
On Saturday, the Tokyo metropolitan administration recorded more than 800 new infections in the city, after a record number of 1,337 cases last Thursday.
And Japanese health officials announced that 3,158 new cases of corona were recorded on Sunday, bringing the total number of cases to 245,924, including 712 on a cruise ship.
And 60 people were announced dead, and the total death toll rose to 3,632, including 13 people from the aforementioned ship’s passengers.
