French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said on Thursday that time is running out to prevent the collapse of Lebanon, and he sees no indication that Lebanese politicians are doing what they can to save their country.

Le Drian added at a press conference in Paris, “I will tend to classify Lebanese politicians as responsible for not helping their country while it is in danger. They have all committed themselves to working to form an inclusive government and implement indispensable reforms. That was 7 months ago and nothing moves … I think it’s not too late yet, but it’s too short. “
“It is up to the Lebanese authorities to take charge of their fate, knowing that the international community is looking with concern … There is still time to act today, but tomorrow it will be too late,” Le Drian stressed.
France led international efforts to save Lebanon from its deepest crisis since the civil war by trying to persuade rival politicians to adopt a roadmap for reform and form a new government to obtain international aid.
