The Lebanese national team bid farewell to the Asian Football Cup finals again from the group stage, after losing to Tajikistan 1-2 on Monday in the third and final round of the first group competitions, which witnessed a third victory for Qatar over China 1-0.
Qatar, the defending champion, raised its score to nine points after it had secured the lead since the second round, while Tajikistan came in runner-up with four points and accompanied it to the round of 16 in its first participation, compared to two points for China, which awaits its fate, while Lebanon bid farewell with an orphan point in its third participation after 2000 and 2019.
At Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium in front of 11,843 spectators, most of them from the Lebanese community, Lebanon took the lead through Basil Jaradi (47), but the expulsion of its defender, Qasim Al-Zein, changed the situation due to a reckless error (56). Tajikistan responded with two goals through Parvizdzhon Omarbayev (80) and Nurdin Khamrokulov (90+2).
