The Supreme Defense Council in Lebanon declared a state of health emergency from the 14th to the 25th of this month.
Lebanese media reported that the state of emergency can be extended according to the results and includes the imposition of a day and night curfew, starting from Thursday, January 14, until the 25th of the same month.
The President of the Republic, Michel Aoun, called at the beginning of the session to “declare a state of health emergency to confront the expansion of the Corona epidemic,” noting that “the tragedy that we see at the doors of hospitals requires radical measures so that we can mitigate the catastrophic consequences of the outbreak of the virus.”
This decision comes after Lebanon recorded record highs in the number of Corona virus infections for several consecutive days, reaching 5,440 daily infections.
