The Statistics Department of Lithuania announced the registration of 3322 new cases of the emerging coronavirus and 130 deaths, during the past 24 hours.
According to the official website of the administration in its English version, 143,903 people have been infected with the emerging kurna virus since its spread in the country, and 72,442 people have recovered, while 1,689 people have died.
“Our employees have asked health institutions to send confirmed information. 130 deaths, of course, not all of them died yesterday. Rather, they are deaths that were not properly reported,” said a spokeswoman for the National Center for Public Health, Ostina Vjensiawskaiti, in an interview with Lithuanian Radio .
Last December, due to the epidemiological situation, the quarantine was tightened in Lithuania, which was imposed for the third time on the seventh of November. The authorities have taken widespread measures to combat the emerging corona virus. The quarantine was extended until January 31, 2021.
The government decree on the stricter quarantine caused a significant increase in the flow of people to shopping centers in Vilnius, Kaunas and Clypeda, while the extension of working hours was announced, and that the closure would affect most stores except for groceries and pharmacies.
