Tiger Woods and Justin Timberlake have faced criticism from local residents for their plans to build a sports bar in a 1930s cinema in the UK. The proposed development, located near the Old Course at St Andrews, would be owned and operated by the sport bar business T-Squared Social. The bar would offer “elevated cuisine” and “craft cocktails” along with golf simulators, bowling, and darts. However, residents in St Andrews have expressed their disapproval, calling the plans disrespectful and claiming that the bar would cater to American golfers while neglecting the local community. Despite the backlash, Woods and Timberlake remain enthusiastic about the project, stating that they wanted to bring their T-Squared Social concept to St Andrews as a way to contribute to the local community and create a welcoming space for residents and visitors. T-Squared Social is a partnership between Woods and Timberlake, with its first sports bar opening in New York last month. The proposed venue in St Andrews would feature large format televisions, a bowling alley, and an expanded cinema experience. The development is awaiting approval from Fife Council, with plans for the venue to open in 2024 if given the green light.
