Residents of the British capital, London, began to leave en masse after the decision to tighten movement restrictions following the detection of a new strain of Corona virus.
According to the “Daily Mail” newspaper, crowds of citizens gathered in the main train stations in the city before the new measures took effect.
Significant traffic jams have formed on major highways connecting London with other parts of the country.
In a surprising turnaround, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson canceled plans to allow families to communicate during the holidays, as the government warned of a new strain of the Corona virus “out of control.”
And British Health Minister Matthew Hancock announced last week that “a new strain of Corona virus has been identified in the country that is spreading faster than the original form.”
He said: “The new strain is spread from person to person easier than the previous one, and therefore it is more infectious.”
