The Los Angeles Lakers have closed the hiring of Frank Mason III to participate in the remainder of the preseason, as reported by the journalist from ESPN Adrian Wojnarowski. The Californian organization had one last hole in the roster which will be occupied by Mason.
The point guard was selected 34th in the 2017 draft by the Sacramento Kings. After a hopeful debut season, Mason’s relevance has plummeted to the point of playing just thirteen games in the past two seasons, split between Milwaukee and Orlando.
In a total of 103 games, the one from Petersburg has registered numbers of 6.7 points, 2.0 rebounds and 2.7 assists. The Lakers currently have thirteen fully guaranteed contracts but it is possible that they will start the 2021-22 season with an empty space on the roster. Mason has more experience than the other guests at the training camp of the Lakers and could be chosen to occupy the 14th place or, instead, join the affiliate team in the Development League.
