Bruno Fernandes was reportedly left despondent after he was substituted at half-time during Tottenham‘s demolition job of Manchester United at Old Trafford.
It was an afternoon to forget about for United last Sunday as Spurs came from an early goal down to hammer Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side 6-1 in the Premier League.
And according to The Athletic, Fernandes was among the most vocal stars in the United camp at half-time as they were 4-1 behind with just 10 men after Anthony Martial received a straight red for lashing out at Erik Lamela.

However, Fernandes’ passion at half-time did little to persuade Solskjaer to keep him on the pitch for the second half – and he ended up being replaced by Donny van de Beek, a decision which left the midfielder deeply upset.
The report also claims that Solskjaer’s decision was largely a tactical one, feeling he needed fresh legs in midfield to try and stop Spurs running riot.
Furthermore with three matches on the horizon for Portugal, Solskjaer reportedly decided to withdraw Fernandes from the action as he was wary his creative star may pick up an injury along the way for being overworked.

When the international break finishes, Fernandes and his United team-mates will be desperate to bounce back and put last weekend’s horror show behind them.
United take on Newcastle away next Saturday in the Premier League but will face a tough task against a side who have got off to a solid start.
United have struggled to get going this season following a lack of pre-season, picking up just three points in as many games – with their victory over Brighton coming in fortunate circumstances.
