The racing driver was reminiscing about going on tour with the Spice Girls as a teenager in the 1990s when he said that he ‘saved’ David ‘from his wife’.
During the fun interview, The One Show’s host Jermaine Jenas quizzed Paul about a story ‘where he managed to save David Beckham’.
Paul cheekily replied: ‘Saved him from his wife! No I’m joking’

Paul also candidly talked about how he dealt with his sister shooting to fame while he was still a teenager. The pair share the same mother (Joan O’Neill) but have different fathers.
Paul is a former British auto racing driver and the co-founder of 29 Productions.
He said: ‘I’m not going to say it was terribly difficult but, emotionally, it was quite hard.
‘I left college in the end because it was, it wasn’t bullying, but people taking the mickey all of the time so I just got a normal job and tried to make my way forward.
‘My sister helped me out massively.’
Mel also spoke about taking part in Celebrity Gogglebox alongside Paul.
Mel said about filming: ‘Well I’m quite a bit older than Paul so I’ve always been the boss.
‘But the funny thing is I’ve had this incredible career with the Spice Girls and done loads of different things but when I’m on a show like this [The One Show], or ever been filmed you’re kind ‘of on’.
‘But when I’m sat with my little brother, your annoying little brother, you think, ‘Am I going to be too relaxed?’
‘He’s going to throw me under the bus isn’t he, expose all my secrets. It’s jeopardy.’
Paul previously spoke to The Times in 2016 about how he was forced to drop out of college due to the abuse he received for being ‘Sporty Spice’s brother.’
He said: ‘Some of those early Spice Girls songs are classics, but I grew to hate Wannabe.
‘I was at college and all the people I hung around with started taking the p**s. I wasn’t Paul, I was Sporty Spice’s brother, the one who dressed in trackies and did flying kicks.
‘I’d pretend to laugh it off, but it hurt me. I couldn’t take any more, so I left.’
Mel has also told The Times how Paul gave her sage advice back in her singing heyday.
‘Even though I was older, it was Paul who started giving me advice. ‘Stand up for yourself. If someone is a p***k, just tell them.’
‘When I was at my lowest, he was always there. My family has always been there, giving me something I could hold on to.
‘People sometimes refer to Paul as my half-brother. No, he’s 100% my brother.’
Mel has also supported Paul in his road to become a racing driver, paying for his licence and buying his first racing car.
