Barcelona, May 31 (.).- The Minister of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, Raquel Sánchez, called this Tuesday to flee from “confrontation and comparisons that do not lead to anything” in the field of investment, while the Government has reproached him for the investment deficit in Catalonia, which he sees as “inadmissible”.
This exchange of views took place during the inauguration of the International Logistics Exhibition (SIL), which started this Tuesday in Barcelona after not being held since 2019 due to the pandemic, and after a report from the General Intervention of the Administration will verify that the State executed in 2021 in Catalonia 35.77% of the planned investment while the Community of Madrid achieved an execution of 183.9%.
Sánchez has affirmed that the Government of which he is a part “complies” and is “committed” to Catalonia, and has added that since the socialists agreed to Moncloa in 2018 “Catalonia is the autonomous community that has received the most investment from the ministry “.
Specifically, 3,700 million euros executed and the resumption of “infinity of paralyzed projects”, some of them that had not even begun to be drafted: as examples he has cited La Sagrera, the accesses to the Airport, the Mediterranean Corridor in its section in Vandellós or the railway burials in Sant Feliu de Llobregat and Montcada i Reixac.
“Obviously, 2020 and 2021 were not good years for execution, but we have reached a rate that exceeds the comparison with the previous year by more than 160%”, he added before venturing that in future years “the result of bids and budget commitments” already carried out.
To conclude, he underlined the Government’s commitment “with the State as a whole and with the Catalans, beyond colors and political ideas”.
For his part, the Secretary of Territory and Mobility of the Government, Isidre Gavín, has denounced these “inadmissible” data on the execution of investments and the “chronic delays” in large infrastructures such as the Mediterranean corridor: “During all these years, governments of different colors and this not only does not change but it consolidates and worsens”.
According to Gavín, the non-execution of the planned investments “leaves the companies, the infrastructures and the citizens who use them on the run”.
The representative of the Catalan Executive has lamented the “absolutely deficient” investment agenda of the State and has urged the Government to give “a very forceful response and probably very clear excuses” in the face of this situation.
