Hikaru Nakamura (Hirakata, Japan, 1987), was born on December 9, while Gari Kaspárov and Anatoli Kárpov approached the exciting final of the World Championship in Seville. He was to be one of his brightest successors in the chess elite, although we will always be left wondering if he had been a world champion with full dedication and systematic training to that end. Emigrated to the US at the age of two, adopted – after his parents divorced – by the highly respected promoter of school chess Sunil Weeramantri, he began playing at the age of seven.
Soon he exhibited enormous talent, but he spent a lot of time, perhaps excessive, playing ultra-fast games online. Even so, he was among the top ten in the world for seven years (2011-2018), and since then among the twenty because his priority is to earn money playing and commenting on friendly games online. Before that he produced several immortals, like the one in this video, in front of Krasénkow (Casino de Barcelona, 2008), close to perfection: impeccable placement of all the pieces and very brilliant execution.
