The Denver Nuggets have closed the incorporation of DeMarcus Cousins under a ten-day contract, as reported by the journalist from ESPN Adrian Wojnarowski. The movement had already been advanced more than a week ago but was awaiting a meeting between the player, his representative and manager Tim Connelly.
As reported by the journalist Denver Post Mike Singer, the Nuggets have waited until now because they wanted to lock in his signing at a time in the month when they could maximize the length of the contract. Something they will do now, since the Nuggets will play six games until January 30.
Before closing this agreement with the Colorado franchise, Cousins played 17 games for the Milwaukee Bucks, with whom he had signed a non-guaranteed contract at the end of last November. However, those from Wisconsin dispensed with their services at the beginning of January with the purpose of leaving a free gap before a possible incorporation before the closing of the market. Still, he performed at a good level there: 9.1 points and 5.8 rebounds in 16.9 minutes.
The Nuggets needed an interior reinforcement after Bol Bol’s departure as part of the Bryn Forbes trade, which left Zeke Nnaji as their only reliable backup for Nikola Jokic. Not the Cousins of his best years, he can still bring scoring and versatility to the team’s second unit.
