Hundreds of Pakistanis continue their sit-in in a suburb of Quetta in western Pakistan for the fourth consecutive day, to protest the killing of 10 minors from the Shiite Hazara minority, refusing to bury them despite the authorities’ demands.
The protesters gathered since Sunday in the suburb of Quetta, the capital of Baluchistan, where they block a road and demand justice and protection for them, after an attack claimed by the “ISIS” organization, in which the ten children were killed, while demonstrations are taking place in Karachi, south of the country, in solidarity with the protesters.
On Sunday, the ten minors were killed in a mountainous region of Balochistan, the poorest region of Pakistan, which is witnessing ethnic, sectarian and separatist unrest. Security sources said that at least four of the dead were beheaded, noting that residents refused to bury the victims.
Two ministers arrived in Quetta on Wednesday in an attempt to persuade residents to bury the dead, and Prime Minister Imran Khan confirmed via “Twitter” that his government was taking measures to prevent further attacks.
It is worth noting that the “ISIS” organization claimed responsibility for the attack, and the Pakistani authorities deny the presence of the organization on its territory, but the latter adopted several attacks in the country, including the attack carried out by a suicide bomber in a market in Quetta in April 2019, which killed 20 people.
“ISIS” operates through the local “Lashkar Gangwe” movement, which has links with the Taliban.
