The pub landlord, Shaun Griffiths, responded to the review and called the customer a ‘Cheap Charlie’ for expecting to bring their own plate and take food home. While the customer praised the food and service, they expressed disappointment in not being able to take leftovers home. Shaun defended the pub’s policy of consuming food onsite and stated that bringing in outside plates to smuggle food home is not allowed. He explained how the all-you-can-eat carvery works and suggested that customers with smaller appetites should go to other nearby restaurants. Shaun’s response gained attention, and he defended his decision to address the review, mentioning that the pub sells over 800 carveries a week and has a strong reputation. He stressed that the majority of their customers are loyal and supportive.
