Puebla, Pue. After the state Ministry of Economy announced that the program of Weight to Weight, together with Nacional Financiera (Nafin), in support of micro, small and medium enterprises, with 600 million pesos available, the Mexican Franchise Network estimated that 70% of the 1,900 businesses in the sector seek access to such financing.
Francisco Lobato Galindo, president of the organization, considered it important that there be flexibility for applications, since difficulties arise due to a requirement that they do not meet, without thinking that businesses are still in the process of subsisting in full Covid-19 pandemic.
He explained that only 30% of his partners accessed loans and this time they expect an increase, since the money will be to restock merchandise and operating expenses.
He indicated that it is not ruled out that they close more franchises, accounting for 250 since the pandemic began, but most of the entrepreneurs in the sector want to reduce that panorama in 2022.
The leader estimated that 50% of the definitive closures are cafeterias, 20% are fast food businesses and the rest are confectionery, of which half are in the metropolitan area within squares and shopping centers.
There is no other way than to have a good credit to strengthen, especially at the beginning of the year, because the first two months are complicated by the slope of January, “he said.
He highlighted that some franchises generate between three and five jobs, although some have up to 10, especially in the case of restaurants that are part of an international chain.
Lobato Galindo said that the situation is complicated for businesses that go up to date, because many rent in shopping malls or in the Historic Center of Puebla, whose rents must be covered even when there is the support of charging them less or waiting a few months for them.
He recalled that the sector has about 7,500 employees, who they want to keep, but it depends on the epidemiological panorama during 2022, since the dismissal of personnel is latent.
